Philippians 4:6-7 “be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Friends, what we are experiencing right now, is unexpected. 2020 has truly been a test of our faith and relationship with God. Yes the church is closed but as the children ministry’s song goes, the church is not a building, the church is the people. The church truly is the people especially in our current quarantine state, efforts are made to continue to practice our faith with online services, prayer meetings, Bible studies, health talks, youth discussions and reflections on our Christian encounters.
The unexpected hit from COVID-19 to our academic and social life has truly been a wakeup call. I recognize the feelings of those who had plans of graduating to the next grade or chapter in their life, I recognize those who had major exams to take that they have spent countless nights preparing for, I also recognize those who thrive off interactions with their friends, family, and their community. However, let us not forget or doubt our God. God has plans in store for us that we may not see yet but plans that will give us a future and hope.
In Philippians 4:6-7, we are reminded to be anxious for nothing, but pray about everything. God answers prayers. God is our rock and He will guide us through these uncertain times. Let us continue to trust God. We shall overcome together.
Reflection: What are you anxious about? In what ways can the word of God help you through times of uncertainties?
