Day 8 of Lent- Be not conform to this World

  • by

Text: “Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12: 2a).

Sometimes, Christians suffer identity crises. We allow the circumstances of life and the pressures we encounter to mold us into what we are not. As believers we live in the world but we are not of the world. We must not be absorbed by the world. The Bible says “do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12: 2a).

It is true that Jesus dined with Sinners, but it is also true that Jesus did not allow the social groups He encountered and the pressures of this world to overwhelm and change His true identity. Instead Jesus seized every opportunity to present the truth of God’s love in ways and means that changed lives.

It is important to remember who we are as we engage the world around us. Our social contacts and connections should be an opportunity for us to share our faith with those who do not yet know Christ.

This time of LENT is a period of change, renewal or rebirth of our Christian Life to the one we have believed or have faith in (Jesus).  Let us therefore be transformed by the renewing of our minds with the word of God. Amen

Reflection: How do you engage the world with the love of Christ but still stay true to your unique identity in Christ?

Reading: Romans 12:1-21
